There is a thread on maintainers related to this bug:

Our current cairo is still linked to legacy OpenCSW-specific X11, a new cairo needs a new pango which is in progress.

What are you talking about, Dago?

http://www.opencsw.org/packages/gimp/ [^]
leads to gimp_minimal, which leads to http://www.opencsw.org/packages/libcairo/ [^]
which does not depend on opencsw-specific X11.

Well, its not a final version, but through a bit of brute-force hackery, I have what you might call an early preview recompiled version.

For sparc only at this point:

pkg-get -U -s http://buildfarm.opencsw.org/opencsw/experimental/phil [^] -u gimplibs gimp_minimal

should give it to you to play with.

I can say that I have at least installed it, and "it starts up"
Let me know if it fixes the crashing problem for you please.

Printing is.. .a more complex issue.

Hm. I thought printing was completely broken, but basic printing features
(print to file) seems to work at least.

Sadly, I notice that print preview does, indeed, seem to do nothing.
But it gives no errors that I can see. Please let me know if you have any suggestions in that area.

oh. actually .... it would seem the only problem is that "evince" is not present.

And that has a whole heaping gobload of dependancies, which I really dont want to force into "gimp_minimal" (or possibly even the higher level "gimp" !)

Do you have suggestions on how to make gimp use something besides evince for page preview?

Phil - best to update to GIMP 2.6.11. The new gimp 2.6.8 package still has the issue.

2.6.8? what the....
oh, glargle... I forgot to bump the actual program version rev, sorry :)
but if you use gimp -version, it should say 2.6.11

Hmm. thats not good :(
You said you were pretty sure 2.6.11 had a code fix for your problems?

Ok. GIMP 2.6.11 fixes the problem. Jeff is also going to test things out as well on his SPARC workstation.

You can close this ticket. The new package resolved the scrolling issue.
