A while ago, Peter Bonivart turned the common MTA commands and man pages for sendmail (sendmail, mailq, newaliases) into symlinks which are handled by alternatives so that in theory one can install two of our MTAs alongside each other and switch in between them via alternatives. He asked me to do the same for postfix, but I never got around to do so. Now that you take care of postfix, maybe you can give it a shot.
