More likely yopur download is corrupt, your mirror is broken or you are not up to date with pkgadd-patches. I just reinstalled libgnomecanvas on a sparc machine, and it went through without a problem.
An md5sum of the working package:
87ed36e3682e0db3bacb6e56e86eb74f libgnomecanvas-2.4.0,REV=2004.03.14-SunOS5.8-sparc-CSW.pkg.gz
Which Solaris-Version do you use, and what is your latest pkgadd-patch-version? |

Did you gunzip the file you downloaded, or did your browser simply cut off the .gz-ending? I can \"reproduce\" your problem, when trying to pkgadd the gzipped package-file.
Please try renaming the file to libgnomecanvas.gz, run gunzip on it and then pkgadd. If this succeeds, something is messing with the filenames you download. |

Thanks for prompt reply.
I have tried to download via wget, it gzip -d fine so there must be something wrong in the package or?

HI,
Nope, I have since friday installed and upgraded all my CSW packages at home but when I after completing the upgrade I tried installing evolution so thats the background.
It still does not work. see below!
You where previous talking about patched pkg*, did you mean Solaris pkg* tools or Blastwave pkg-get?
The server I am installing on is a unpatches S9 04/03, are there some know bugs like to long filename using \',\' or simular that you know of from Sun?
